  • Symptomatic animals suspected of infection
  • Confirmation of a positive antigen or stain test
  • Clarifying inconclusive microscopy or rapid test results

🧫 Sample Instructions:

  • Collect a fresh faecal sample from your animal using the kit provided.
  • Do not overfill – fill the pot no more than 75% full.
  • Ensure the pot is sealed tightly and return it using the absorbent packaging provided.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

What is Cryptosporidium?
A microscopic parasite that causes gastrointestinal disease in many species including dogs, cats, reptiles, and humans. It is considered a zoonotic pathogen.

Why choose PCR over a stain or antigen test?
Real-Time PCR detects parasite DNA and is significantly more sensitive and specific than other methods. It is ideal when other tests have been positive, inconclusive, or symptoms persist despite treatment.

Can I use this test after treatment?
Yes. PCR can help confirm clearance, although residual DNA may still be present shortly after treatment.

Is the test the same for all species?
Yes – the same PCR test is used across all species. Interpretation of results may vary depending on the species and clinical context.
